Alfo Romeo 159 Turismo Internazionale

Only a small number of Alfa Romeos have ever carried the famous two-letter designation, TI. Now it’s the turn of the Alfa 159 saloon and Sportwagon to carry the famous TI initials. Short for Turismo Internazionale, the TI badge now appears on several versions.

The range-enhancing Alfa 159 TI line-up benefits from a unique body kit, lowered sports suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, red Brembo brake callipers all-round, plus chrome effect door mirrors and exhaust.Inside these TI models, electrically adjustable and heated leather front sports seats top the list of interior changes, along with new sports dials, aluminium sports pedals, kick plates and trim inserts. A leather-clad sports steering wheel and gear knob are also included in the sporty specification list.Drivers can choose from three powerful yet flexible engines. There are two petrol units: a 2.2 JTS and 3.2 JTS V6; and one diesel option: a 2.4 JTDM plus a choice of manual or QTRONIC gearboxes. In addition, Alfa Romeo’s Q4 4WD system, standard equipment on the 3.2 JTS V6, can also be specified on the diesel version.

And, by offering only three body colours – Alfa Red, Stromboli Grey and Carbonio black – Alfa Romeo is planning to keep the Alfa 159 TI models distinctive and exclusive.

Prices are also suitably attractive, with all this extra equipment costing just ?750 more than the top spec Lusso models.

Renault developing new Laguna coupe

Renault is close to finalizing the design for a new coupe version of its recently revealed Laguna. The new two-door will be launched roughly 12 months after the introduction of the sedan and estate models, and will round out the lineup as the carmaker’s new flagship.

Styling will be heavily influenced by the Fluence concept (pictured) that was unveiled back in 2004. Measuring close to 4.7m in length, the new coupe will be a genuine 2+2 GT and its interior will be lifted directly out of the sedan.

Like the Fluence concept, the new Laguna coupe will likely feature a Nissan-sourced V6 powerplant for the range topper, with four-cylinder petrol and several diesel engines available for less expensive versions. Renault will offer both a six-speed manual and six-speed auto as options for the transmission.

Some of the goodies carried over from the sedan will include an electric handbrake, remote engine starting, and xenon lights, plus uprated suspension, increased sound-proofing and a closer-ratio steering set-up.

Ferrari Dino concept by Ugur Sahin

Ferrari Dino Concept design is the modernized version of the successful Ferrari Dino produced by Ferrari.

The goal was to create a car that feels stylish, modern, dynamic and organic while staying true to the original design language of the Ferrari Dino and Ferrari brand in general.

The main characteristic of the Dino Concept design is the way it looks similar to the original Dino. With very round styling elements around the wheelbases and its cockpit, it looks retro and modern at the same time. With the right proportions combined, the car looks very dynamic and stylish. It stays true to its original with the design of the rear and the front being rounded and avoiding the hard edges as much as possible. Also the rear window opening is a striking feature originating from the original Ferrari Dino. The air intakes scoops however are very different compared to the original Dino, they look very organic and visually add a very organic feel to the car.

9ff boosts the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio to 910 hp!

What is it? It has 910hp at 910Nm, takes only 3.10 seconds from 0 to 100km/h and offers a top speed of 392km/h made possible by the modified double-clutch gearbox that goes with it. In the form of a convertible, with unbelievable 780hp resulting in 381km/h, it holds the absolute world record since October 2006.

Right, it must be a Porsche. But not just an ordinary one, no, it is the new Porsche 911 Turbo TRC 91 created by Nardo God 9ff. The artists from Dortmund turned the already extremely sporty bolide into one of the fastest and most powerful street-legal sports cars around the globe.

The supercar‘s 3.6 litre biturbo ‚boxer‘ engine was modified in great detail. Not only two special turbochargers increase the performance, but also the sport air filter, larger injectors, modified cylinder heads and a stainless steel exhaust system with special manifolds as well as high-performance catalysts, and, finally, an extensive increase in engine displacement resulting in 4.0 litres. All modifications are perfectly harmonised by means of the reprogrammed engine control unit.

More air for everything

Thanks to the modified racing front grill, the engine is provided with more air while the brake cooling has been improved by - discrete - additional air intakes. A boot lid made of carbon allows a maximum weight reduction to 1,300 kg.

Optimum performance is brought to perfection through revised aerodynamics enhancing the powerful Porsche‘s driving stability while creating an atmosphere of even more dynamic elegance. The monstrous inner workings, however, do not reveal themselves that easily to a layperson. The experts at 9ff confined themselves to a slightly lower front apron and elegant 20-inch wheels with a larger braking system. New and shapely front spoilers, side skirts and redesigned rear wings add to the aerodynamic kit while the elegant and aerodynamically enhanced exterior mirrors are the crowning glory of the whole.

To sum it up, the 9ff Turbo TRC 91 was made for those among us who are real gentlemen - it is a decent horsepower werewolf.

Rolls Royce Phantom vs Maybach 57s

Mitsubishi i electric car to enter production

Mitsubishi will launch its first all-electric vehicle by mid-2010 in Japan with the first European sales expected to start in the following year. The car will be based on the current i car, which is sold in Japan with a 0.7L MIVEC three-cylinder engine. The electric version, currently undergoing testing in the UK, will sport a lithium-ion battery under the passenger seat, which will power an electric motor positioned in the rear of the car.
In an interview with CAR Magazine, Mitsubishi’s UK managing director Jim Tyrrell revealed that the electric motor will develop 47kW and 133lb ft of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 81mph with a range in excess of 100 miles.
The car will have two plugs for recharging, a quick charge outlet that can charge the battery to 80% capacity within 25 minutes or an onboard charger that plugs into an ordinary household power outlet and takes between seven and 13 hours to charge. Though the quick charge system sounds good, it will require special fast-charging infrastructure that’s still under development.
We’re big fans of ultra-efficient minicars like the Mitsubishi i and Smart Fortwo, and are looking forward to seeing the other major carmakers launch similar models in coming years.

9ff GT9 to break Bugatti Veyron’s 407km/h top speed

The Porsche GT9 by 9ff will be the fastest Porsche ever, targeting the 400 km/h mark and clearly attacking the Bugatti Veyron. The goal for the Porsche 9ff GT9 is at least 407 km/h. If successful it will be produced in a mini series of just 20 copies for 476.000 Euro each. One Arabian guy already placed an order, but only if they can break the 400 km/h limit. The Porsche 9ff GT9 is based on the Porsche 911 GT3, but only two parts remained, all the others have been exchanged for a lot of carbon and even wood. In addition the Porsche 9ff GT9 was stretched by 30 centimers, the roof was lowered by 12 centimeters, otherwise it will take off by that speed.
